About Me

My name is Susy. I adopted my first dog Kuma in 2017 while I was studying for the bar exam. I knew nothing about dogs. She is a Texas rescue pitbull mix, with an unknown backstory, who came to me around 1.5 years. Kuma was insecure and under-socialized. I didn’t know then what I know now about the value of structure or boundaries and Kuma developed leash reactivity.

Fast forward I became obsessed with training to understand and address her behaviors. She is my calm zen queen these days. I couldn’t be more proud of the relationship we built. So much so, it inspired me to get a second rescue pitty Remy. She was found in Texas at 8 weeks old as a stray. I raised her with incredible intention and she was growing into the sweetest, calmest, most confident girlie. Then just shy of a year old she started developing health Issues. She had severe discospondylitis caused by an infection and I had to make the awful choice to put her down. This was two days after her first birthday.

Remy inspired me to start PackPatootie. I had spent years studying under trainers, attending workshops, watching videos, listening to podcasts, and reading books. My interest in training comes from my love of community and my deep commitment to learning. I work from a place of curiosity, joy, and open mindedness. I find building the relationship and watching the progress so fulfilling.

I’m here to synthesize what I know and problem solve beside you. I believe in gentle and balanced training. I believe you have to understand the dog in front of you, especially what motivates them and how they learn, when addressing training. I believe training should be rooted in relationship, not fear or frustration, but joy and connection. Most importantly, I’m here to make training practical for the lifestyle you want to lead.
